Question 1

What is the difference between aliphatic and aromatic polyurethane acrylate oligomers?

Accepted Answer

Aliphatic polyurethane acrylates are built on aliphatic isocyanates, so they resist yellowing under sunlight and are preferred for clear topcoats, 3C plastic coatings, nail gel and outdoor parts. Aromatic polyurethane acrylates offer toughness, abrasion resistance and cost efficiency, but tend to yellow on UV exposure, so they are best for pigmented or indoor applications such as wood and floor coatings.

Question 2

Which oligomer should I choose for a UV wood or floor coating?

Accepted Answer

Epoxy acrylates are commonly used for sealers and sanding primers thanks to fast cure, hardness and good sandability. Topcoats usually combine epoxy or hyperbranched acrylates for scratch resistance with aromatic or aliphatic polyurethane acrylates for flexibility and abrasion resistance. Waterborne polyurethane acrylates are used when low VOC and low film-build are required.

Question 3

Can Ever Ray develop a custom UV resin for my formulation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our R&D team adjusts backbone chemistry, functionality, viscosity and diluent package to meet target performance such as adhesion on difficult substrates, yellowing resistance, flexibility or cure speed. Share your substrate, curing equipment and performance targets through the contact page to start a development project.

Question 4

What does an amino acrylate or active amine do in a UV formulation?

Accepted Answer

Amino acrylates and active amines act as synergists for Type II photoinitiators such as benzophenone or thioxanthones. They donate hydrogen to generate initiating radicals and help counter oxygen inhibition, which improves surface cure and line speed, especially in thin ink and overprint varnish films.

Question 5

Do you provide technical data sheets and safety data sheets for export orders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Technical data sheets and safety data sheets are available for our grades on request, and our team can advise on starting formulations, storage and handling for international shipments.
